GearSwitcher - XML Creation

Use these options to create your customised XML files for the GearSwitcher UI mod. You can change your characters or their sets of gear at any time, simply create new XML files to replace the old ones.

NB: If your browser is set to automatically save downloaded files, you will not see a dialogue box appear. Instead you will find the XML files have been placed in your usual downloads directory.

Configuring Your Characters

  1. Think about which characters you wish to use with the GearSwitcher mod. Don't list every character you have, just those you really want to switch gear for. Every additional character requires additional UI components, and whilst performance is not generally affected it may take longer to load the UI initially.
  2. Enter the first name of each character to be included. Names must be spelt correctly. Do not include surnames or titles.
  3. Save the XML file into the GearSwitcher directory.

Using Log Files

  1. Under Vanguard's chat options, ensure "Command Results" is selected for the chat tab called "Chat" before you start.
  2. Log files will be written under your Vanguard installation as:
    ..\Vanguard\logs\Chat_log_TIMESTAMP.txt
  3. The timestamp on log files is per minute. If you attempt to create multiple log files very quickly the game may over-write a previous log file.

Diplomacy Station Gear Sets

  1. Equip your character with the desired diplomacy gear for a station.
  2. Use the "Record" button on the main GearSwitcher window to create a log file.
  3. Enter the character's first name, this must be spelt correctly. Do not include a surname or any titles.
  4. Select which station the gear is for.
  5. Upload the log file.
  6. Save the XML file into the GearSwitcher directory.
  7. Use the "Reload" button on the main GearSwitcher window to load the new gear configuration.
