InfoMap - Data and Usage
This page gives details of how the PoI data is displayed on the maps and how the web-based map system works, to help you make best use of the InfoMap Advanced UI mod.
Key to PoI Markers
InfoMap currently uses the following markers on the main maps and in the map browser window. There is also a key window in the mod itself that can be referred to.

InfoMap PoI Data
The data for the InfoMap UI mod is submitted by players using the Automatic PoI Logging System on this website. If you would like to see more data available in this mod, join in with the effort to collect it!
The positioning of the PoI markers is a balance between accuracy and visibility, and varies according to the type of PoI. Accuracy is also limited by the scaling of the images for the data layers.
- Markers for metal, stone and wood nodes are precise, and one dot marker indicates one node.
- Markers for cloth resources indicate the centre of a patch of cloth plants, therefore one dot marker typically indicates between one and four plants. The positions of the plants in each patch are averaged since they occur too close together to mark individually on the maps.
- Marker positions on the services and diplomacy data layers are adjusted by an algorithm and visibility is favoured over precise accuracy. Where several PoIs exist close together the positions are altered slightly so that all the markers can be seen clearly. Therefore with the exception of areas excluded from the algorithm (New Targonor and Ahgram), where multiple service markers are clustered together the positions may not indicate the exact locations. Single service markers which do not overlap any others remain precise however.

Web-Based PoI Maps
Vanguard's web browser window is used to provide access to the map system on this website. The web-based map system is quite complex and offers a lot of possibilities, so I recommend taking a little time to explore the options. In particular, here are some tips on using these maps ingame.
- There are three different modes: PoI Search, PoIs by Types and PoIs by Tiers. You can switch between these at the top of the menu.
- The menu has six sub-menus, use the buttons at the top to switch between them. The buttons for some of the sub-menus will become available or disabled as appropriate to the current mode. Not all options are available at all times.
- The menu and the key can both be opened or hidden using the buttons at the top of the window. Hiding the menu may be especially useful due to the small size of the ingame web browser window.
- There are 3 types of maps: continent, zone and city. If you only want data on a specific area, the zone and city maps will be faster to use than loading PoIs for a whole continent.
- For the zone maps, you can select from the grid or search on the zone name or coordinates. You can give part of a zone name, e.g. "veskal", however it must be enough to uniquely identify the zone. Coordinates must be given in the format "X,Y" e.g. "-24,26".
- The maps can display up to 5000 PoIs each, so it is possible to view a large selection of data at once. However the more PoIs you select the longer it will take to load, so it is best to only ask for what you really want to see.
- The search option requires you to select one or more of the basic PoI categories to search within. The search text you provide is compared to the full text labels, not the abbrevations.
- The PoIs by Types mode offers many different categories of PoIs you may wish to view. This sub-menu also has a Clear All PoIs button you can use to start again with a fresh selection, rather than un-ticking all the boxes.
- Once you are familiar with the options, you will find it's faster to select all the different options you want at the same time (a map, some PoIs, change the zoom level, etc) then hit the reload button. If you change one thing at a time and reload the maps for each it will take you longer to reach the same result.
